Project

Idea

The problem of dropping-out from initial vocational education is quite severe in Europe. Research has shown that there are multiple reasons for early exits from education and training. Often people find out that the actual training was different to what they expected, or they find that the job they were training for did not match their own skill-set. This is due to the fact that individuals are not fully aware of own their skills and competences.

Another aspect is also relevant in this context ie skills/ competences and interests acquired informally may be off the radar and not fully named or recognized by the individual. The ProfilPASS is a tool that brings these skills and competences to light. It therefore assists participants to recognize, name and own their prior learning and also to choose alternative/new employment.

Aims

In order to reduce drop-out rates in education and training in the participating countries we will adapt and implement the PP-system in existing guidance and counselling services as a measure to prevent dropping out from education and training, and to assist job searching.

The concrete aims are:

  • Translation of the ProfilPASS into partner languages and adaption of the tool/ process to meet the local need
  • Up scaling of the ProfilPASS train-the-trainer concept
  • Training ProfilPASS counsellors to apply the adapted PP tool in their own countries ie: France, Spain, Slovenia and Ireland
  • Evaluating the results of the process in order to ascertain the effectiveness of the PP tool
  • Dissemination of results (tool and guidance concept) to stakeholders in our partner countries
  • Establish a system (tool and PP guidance system) implemented by educational providers, schools or guidance centres which will endure beyond the lifetime of the project
