Deutsches Institut für Erwachsenenbildung (DIE)


The DIE was established in 1957 as a research institute. Its socio-political focus is on the development and advancement of adult education in order to improve personal development, social participation and employability for the adult population in Germany. Since 1998 DIE has carried out 53 EU projects mainly in the field of professionalisation and validation of competences. In 2006 DIE developed the ProfilPASS and the training concept, it provides a ProfilPASS-service Point and assures the quality in the ProfilPASS-system with more than 3500 PP-counsellors in Germany and 43 regional PP-centers who support adults in the making their competences visible.

Why we started the project
The ProfilPASS has been a very successful tool in Germany for people who want to make their competences visible. Until now a system like the ProfilPASS does not exist in the partner countries but it is needed. Especially the resource-oriented approach and the focus on non-formal and informally acquired competencies of a person are very attractive to the participating partners because it contributes to the self-assurance of a person. Often people who dropped out of education and training feel that they have no competences and skills, they feel low and have a low self-esteem. ProfilPASS is a tool that proves the opposite: everyone has skills and competences – but most of the people are not aware of that because their competences are not visible.

Career Development and Integration (DEFOIN) was born in 2009 with the idea of promoting the Training for Employment and Insertion of employed and unemployed workers, at a time when the economic crisis and the skill requirements of workers It was a crucial task.

DEFOIN has extensive experience in the comprehensive management of training plans, as well as specific solutions tailored to the need of design, management and delivery of continuing and occupational training for businesses and employed and unemployed.

Training plans DEFOIN managed at all times seeks to enhance the skills of students, improvement and integration into the labor market, expand and update their knowledge. All with the ultimate goal of improving the productivity of workers and organizations, increasing profitability and improving the quality of services of both.

DEFOIN managed plans offer training aimed at both employed and unemployed, as well as training demand by the company.

DEFOIN has been authorized as Employment Agency to provide workers / as a labor intermediation and users in finding and achieving suitable employment to the properties and provide employers the most appropriate to their needs and requirements in terms of working people their professional skills and qualification levels.

Why we participate in KISS:
By reading PROFILPASS we found out that it was a great tool for our Counselors and for our students both in training courses and in our Employment Agency Service.

We discovered a very useful tool for young and adult people who are seeking for new opportunities in their professional career.

After checking several times for the translation we realize PROFILPASS will be an excellent instrument for helping our clients to find a new job.

For sure ProfilPASS will be very useful in our daily work with our students.

GIZ-Project “Support to Adult Education in B&H started in January 2011. In its first phase (2011-2013) the Project is financed by German and Swiss government, while the second phase (2014-2016) of the Project is financed only by German government. The Project objective is as follows: “Adults in need of skills enhancement have improved access to high-quality adult education services in B&H”. Few intervention lines contribute to the attainment of the project objective: Continuous education and improvement of skills,  Recognition and validation of Informal learning and Caching up on compulsory education for school dropouts. After a long phase of adaptation of the instrument to the local needs GIZ-Project together with local partners in B&H has been implementing ProfilPASS in B&H since October 2013.

Why we participate in KISS:
Since GIZ-Project “Support to Adult Education” has already adapted ProfilPASS to the specific needs of B&H, we are happy to share our positive experiences and challenges we had to overcome on this path with other project partners. Being a part of one European project (even if the partnership in the project is a silent one) and having such an “advising role” in a project, being able to share experiences with other partners who are using the same instrument in their own countries contributes to better promotion of ProfilPASS in Bosnia and Herzegovina too.

Fondation Agir Contre L’Exclusion (FACE)

The Act Against Exclusion Foundation is a state-approved foundation based on a territorial network of associations and companies mobilized to fight against exclusion, discriminations and poverty.

In a few years, FACE has become the first network of companies in France which acts in favor of corporate social responsability, integration, education, access to services, local development.

Overall, almost 60 actions are conducted by FACE, are all ways of fighting against social inequalities in France.

The primary focus of IDEAS is educational. Its task is to identify ways in which new thinking and new services can be introduced into the workplace for the benefit of both employees and their enterprise as a whole.

Why we participate in KISS:
IDEAS involvement in the project flows from the need of workers for tools and
processes to help them identify their skills and competences. Also, workers need help in order to identify the significance and potential of their prior learning.

Ljudska Univerza Velenje (LUV)


Ljudska univerza Velenje is public non-profit institution providing adult education, established in 1959.

It takes an active part in regional community by improving the educational structure of the population, by motivating and informing the members of the community and by involving them in the educational programs. We offer various educational programs, adapted to adults, young adults and seniors, so they can gain formal or informal education. We have ca. 4000 participants yearly.

Why we participate in KISS:
We believe in second chances and that every person has a potential that needs to be discovered and used. ProfilPASS is a helpful and useful tool to discover such potentials or “hidden treasures” and we are happy to be a part of this project team. Transferring knowledge and good practice will help to decrease a school dropout and encourage individuals who are not sure what steps to take to find the path that is right for them.

Why we participate in KISS:
We have supported  the development of the ProfilPASS-system in Germany for 10 years now and often noticed  that many people are not aware of their own strengths and skills.

This is an important reason why many people choose wrong training places or  cancel education. We want to help these people by sharing our very positive experience with the ProfilPASS-system in the EU-project KISS.
